Water and Sanitation training for communities in Mozambique

WATER AND SANITATION TRAINING BEIRA

Beira has been devastated by Cyclone Idai and massive flooding. Apart from destruction of homes and crops, the massive flooding has led to outbreaks of  water based diseases such as cholera.

The Diocese of Lebombos responded with a WASH (Water and Sanitation Training ) course held in Beira. 32 people participated from Beira, Manica and Tete. Those trained were Anglicans and also from the community. The training topics were occurrence, detection, effects and prevention of water contamination. Household water treatment methods, conventional and traditional, use of certeza (water purification tablets), oral rehydration salts, salt and sugar solution. Water safety planning.
Green Anglicans assisted with costs for the training.

The workshop was opened by Bishop Carlos Matsinhe
