40 LITTLE BITS OF GOOD – CARBON FAST FOR LENT

“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world”. Archbishop  Tutu

The period of Lent is the time when we remember the 40 days of Jesus in the wilderness. It is a time to focus on our spiritual growth and  traditionally we abstain from certain luxuries. This year we would like to invite you to fast for the planet, to reduce your use of plastic, meat, electricity and water, for the sake of Mother Earth and the generations to come.

These 40  ‘little bits of good’ help us to live a more simple life, to remember our neighbour and to connect with creation. But as these small acts are put together they begin to influence others so that we can make a difference.

Individual actions don’t lead to transformation change, but networked actions do!

If you feel overwhelmed by the enormity of the triple challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution, and you feel that we are pushing a huge boulder up a hill that is going nowhere, then remember this:

“The huge boulder  is already at the top and rolling down the hill with millions of hands pushing it in the right direction, that gives us hope. It isn’t going fast enough yet; but for each new hand that joins, it will go a little faster. “Dr Katharine Hayhoe
